WAW Duo FUE System

Devroye Instruments has developed the WAW Duo FUE System under the leadership of hair transplant specialist Dr Jean Devroye. Awarded the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) Platinum Follicle Award, Dr Devroye is hailed for advancing FUE instrumentation quality.

What is the WAW Duo FUE System?

The WAW system for hair transplants is changing how hair restoration procedures are performed. Think of it as a high-tech pen with a clever twist.

The WAW system’s Hybrid Tornado Punch has a special tip that does two jobs at once. Instead of just cutting, it also protects each hair follicle.

  1. The outer edge of the punch makes a precise opening in the scalp.
  2. The inner part has smooth walls that guide the hair follicle safely out. This design prevents damage to precious hair follicles during extraction.
  3. Built-in suction helps lift each hair follicle gently from its position. No sharp edges ever touch the follicle itself.

The punch moves at low speeds for control and safety. This combination of features means faster procedures and healthier grafts. The oscillating motor keeps things moving efficiently, while the protective structure ensures quality results.

Benefits of the WAW System

Here is how the WAW system benefits our patients.

Superior Extraction Quality

The system achieves superior graft quality through its Hybrid Tornado Punch technology, which combines sharp and blunt punch characteristics.

The Hybrid Tornado Punch is a dissection tool rather than a cutting instrument. It is designed to:

  • Minimise trauma during hair follicle extraction
  • Produce healthier, fuller grafts
  • Lower transection (splitting of follicles) rate
  • Deliver improved hair growth outcomes

Enhanced Surgical Efficiency & Comfort

The ergonomic device’s lightweight components reduce surgeon fatigue during lengthy procedures. We can charge multiple handpieces simultaneously, guaranteeing continuous operation.

These features collectively result in faster treatments for targeted balding areas. Additionally, the procedure reduces patient trauma, and healing times are quicker.

Improved Control & Precision

Surgical control is improved thanks to dual wireless and wired handpiece possibilities. These two options allow precise adjustments of factors, including:

  • Speed
  • Angulation
  • Rotation
  • Oscillation

The device’s versatility allows surgeons to customise their strategy for each patient while maintaining the quality of consistent hair follicle extraction.

Comprehensive Data Control

The technology provides immediate feedback during hair transplants, allowing surgeons to control grafts’ precise number and placement.

The monitoring capability helps:

  • Prevent missed grafts
  • Optimise the overall efficiency of the hair transplantation procedure

How the WAW System Improves on Traditional FUE

FUE technology is a leading method in the field of hair transplantation due to its minimally invasive approach and effective results. The WAW System improves on traditional techniques in the following ways:

  • Innovative trumpet-shaped punch: Creates micro-incisions typically under 1mm. This is smaller than traditional FUE methods, which often create incisions up to 1.2mm in size. This promotes faster healing and minimal scarring.
  • Superior graft harvesting: Works across all hair types, protects hair follicle health, and improves growth outcomes.
  • Dual-action mechanism: Combines efficient extraction with follicle protection.
  • Precision control: Minimises impact on surrounding hair follicles to ensure a natural-looking appearance and optimal scalp health.
  • Improved patient comfort: Shorter procedure time and smaller incision locations lead to a more comfortable experience with superior outcomes.

Additional Innovative Hair Loss Treatment Technologies

Explore more of the latest hair transplant technology we use at the Dr Bonaros Clinic to treat and diagnose hair loss.

Trichoscopy

Trichoscopy is a diagnostic technique that magnifies hair and scalp conditions. At the Dr Bonarons clinic, we use a trichoscope for hair (also called a dermatoscope) to examine the scalp.

A 2021 study found that trichoscopy helped confirm alopecia diagnoses in women when clinical assessment was uncertain.

Other benefits of the device include:

  • Non-invasive technique to diagnose hair and scalp conditions
  • Improved visualisation of the donor area
  • Tracks the progress of hair transplant and medical treatments over time.

The Folliscope system serves as an essential tool in our hair transplant clinic. This system’s ability to precisely measure hair diameter allows us to better understand each patient’s hair characteristics, which contributes to more personalised and effective treatment plans.

Surgical Loupes

Loupes are magnifying glasses for medical professionals. They are worn like glasses or on a band around the head and enlarge the surgical field to provide a clearer, more detailed view.

Here are the advantages of using loupes during a hair transplant:

  • Loupes provide improved visualisation by magnifying the scalp, improving precision.
  • There is a significant reduction in errors due to the enhanced clarity.
  • Loupes reduce strain, supporting long-term career longevity for hair restoration surgeons, which preserves valuable skills.

The Zeiss head-worn EyeMag Pro loupe is indispensable for our hair transplant procedures due to its superior optical performance, which allows for precise and accurate visualisation of the surgical area. Its binocular, stereoscopic near vision capability is crucial for discerning the intricate details of the hair shaft and its angles, significantly reducing the risk of transection.
