THE TREATMENT
A body hair transplant uses follicular unit excision (FUE). Individual hair follicles are extracted from the scalp using tiny punches. They are implanted into the chest, abdomen, pubic area or other zones where hair is sparse or missing. FUE is more precise than the older strip method (FUT, follicular unit transplantation), which leaves a linear scar. We extract only the grafts you need, leaving tiny pale dots rather than a surgical line.
Transplanted scalp hair is genetically resistant to hair loss and continues growing for life. No clinic can promise 100% graft survival. Smoking, blood pressure and how closely you follow aftercare advice all affect the outcome.
If existing body hair in the recipient area sheds naturally over time, that is expected. Your consultation covers realistic expectations, suitability for your skin tone and hair type, and whether to proceed or wait. Saying no is part of honest care.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your consultation includes a scalp and body exam and a discussion of your goals. You then receive a written plan showing how many grafts you need and where they will be placed. A fixed written quote confirms exactly what is included.
We discuss preparation: never stop prescribed medicines without your prescriber's advice. Avoid smoking and alcohol for two weeks before.
1. Local anaesthetic is injected into the scalp and recipient areas. You feel a brief sting, then numbness.
2. A motorised punch withdraws individual follicles under microscopic magnification.
3. Grafts are kept in cool preservative solution and inspected for quality.
4. Implant sites are created using a sharp implanter pen, respecting natural hair angle and direction.
5. Grafts are placed using direct hair implantation (DHI) to control precise depth and angle.
6. The procedure typically lasts two to eight hours, depending on graft count. You stay awake throughout, and most patients remain comfortable.
Days one to three: mild swelling and redness are normal. Days four to seven: swelling fades. Weeks two to three: transplanted hairs shed (shock loss) as new roots form beneath the skin. This is normal and temporary. Week three onwards: new growth begins. Three to four months: new hair becomes visible. Nine to 12 months: full density appears as grafts mature.
Keep the recipient area dry for 5 days, avoid vigorous rubbing, and protect it from the sun for 2 weeks.
