Patient profile and the challenge
A 30-year-old male patient with progressive male pattern hair baldness expressed concern regarding his receding hairline and diffuse thinning in the mid-scalp and crown. A clinical examination by Dr Bonaros revealed significant follicular miniaturisation. The patient was already using topical Minoxidil and was keen to expand his hair restoration approach.
The main challenge was the extensive thinning in the frontal region. This large area required careful restructuring to achieve a natural appearance. Our goal was to create an undetectable hairline that complemented the patient’s facial features. The patient’s natural frontal hair whorl, commonly referred to as a cowlick, required special attention to ensure the authenticity of the result. Simultaneously, we aimed to treat the diffuse thinning in the mid-scalp and crown areas.
Hair Transplant Strategy and combined approach
After discussing the patient’s preferences, lifestyle, and medical history, Dr Bonaros revised the treatment plan for a more favourable result:
Surgical intervention: A strategic FUE hair transplant was planned with a specific focus on the frontal area. A total of 1,819 grafts (approximately 4,266 hairs) were transplanted to restore density and establish a natural hairline.
Medical management: The patient’s existing topical minoxidil regimen was supplemented with another non-surgical protocol to boost hair restoration and address ongoing miniaturisation.
End Results
The results were outstanding, with the patient achieving a full, natural-looking hairline that went beyond his expectations. The team took great care to restore density in the frontal area, ensuring the hairline looked natural and age-appropriate. The whorl now blends naturally into the rest of the hairline, curving softly to the right and helping the hair fall in a way that looks authentic.
In addition, the combination of treatments effectively revitalised previously thinning areas in the mid-scalp and crown regions. The transformation significantly restored the patient’s confidence and overall satisfaction with his appearance.
From Dr Bonaros
The hairline is arguably the most critical component of any hair transplant because it is the most visible. It is the defining feature that frames your face and sets the tone for your entire profile.
This case represents hairline restoration at its absolute best. Creating a truly undetectable hairline requires more than just density; it demands meticulous artistry. By carefully selecting and placing single-hair follicles at the very front edge and gradually building thicker grafts behind them, we recreated the soft, irregular transition of a naturally growing hairline.
When executed with this level of precision, a hairline transplant doesn't just cover baldness - it perfectly restores facial harmony, youthfulness, and total confidence, leaving absolutely no trace of surgery behind.
Warmly,
Dr Epameinondas Bonaros
