Patient profile and the challenge
A young male patient presented with advanced hair loss in the frontal region.
Despite being young, the patient faced severe hair loss that necessitated a comprehensive and strategic approach. The challenge was to address the immediate hair loss effectively while still preserving the donor area for potential future procedures.
Hair Transplant Strategy and combined approach
Dr Bonaros performed an expert Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) transplant. A total of 2,003 grafts (equating to 4,390 hairs) were used to restore the patient’s receding hairline. Care was taken to achieve a youthful appearance while avoiding excessive lowering and maintaining a natural aesthetic.
Before the surgery took place, Dr Bonaros prescribed DHT inhibitors to stabilise the patient’s hair loss and prevent further thinning.
From Dr Bonaros
When treating young men for hair loss, we have to look decades into the future. The most critical step before considering surgery is medical stabilisation. Without committing to medications to halt active shedding, any surgical work risks becoming an isolated island of hair as the native hair continues to recede behind it.
This case perfectly demonstrates how balancing strict medical management with conservative surgical planning delivers a fantastic, natural result that is built to stand the test of time.
