Hair Transplant Case Study: Advanced Front, Mid-Scalp and Crown Hair Loss Restoration
Patient Profile
The patient was suffering from advanced male pattern baldness and had experienced extensive hair thinning and loss. Classified as stage 6 on the Norwood scale, this hair loss resulted in a pronounced bald area on the front, mid-scalp, and crown of the head.
The Challenge
The patient required comprehensive treatment for his significant hair thinning and loss. The extent of this hair loss had profound implications for his self-image and confidence. It also presented a substantial challenge due to the severity associated with a Norwood 6 classification, including major hairline recession and thinning at the vertex.
Hair Transplant Strategy
Dr Bonaros developed a tailored treatment plan focusing on restoring the hairline and mid-scalp areas while preserving the crown for future treatment if needed. This resulted in a two-day Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant procedure. A total of 3,796 grafts (8,241 hairs) were used to maximise coverage and achieve a natural look.
Combined Approach
Given the comprehensiveness of the procedure, Dr Bonaros prescribed medical treatments to enhance the transplant and promote follicular health.
